Font Installation

Mac

On Mac OS X, follow the instructions found here:support.apple.com/kb/HT2435
Please note that we recommend installing the fonts in the top-level library where they can be accessed by all users of a workstation, rather than an individual user’s fonts folder, as our license applies to the workstation rather than the user. We also recommend installing the fonts directly in the fonts folder as detailed in this support article, rather than using FontBook.

Windows

On Windows NT, 2000, and XP, follow the instructions found here: support.microsoft.com/kb/314960
On Windows Vista and 7, please follow the instructions found here:
http://www.microsoft.com/typography/TrueTypeInstall.mspx
If you use a third party font manager, follow the instructions that came with it.

Font Formats
Nouvelle Noire fonts are provided as OpenType Fonts (.otf). OpenType brings a great deal of benefits compared to other font formats. The OpenType format is cross-platform compatible, meaning that the fonts can be easily installed on both Mac and PC, and should behave consistently on both platforms.

OpenType fonts also support Unicode. This means that one font file can include over 65.000 glyphs in various languages and writing systems. Please check the Nouvelle Noire language support page to see which languages are supported by which fontset.

Finally, OpenType also allows to support advanced typographic features such as special ligatures, small caps, contextual alternates, different figure sets …
Notice that just a handful of applications are able to work with all possible OpenType features. They can be accessed in OpenType-savy applications like Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, QuarkXPress 7.

For further information about other font formats please visit:

Upon request we also sell our fonts as TrueType (.ttf) fontfiles.
